We are a thriving and active Catholic school community, part of the All Saints Catholic Academy Trust, situated on the outskirts of Watford, proudly serving the Catholic parishes of Holy Rood and St Helen’s.
The fundamental aim of our school is to be a high achieving Catholic community, living out the gospel values in all that we do and supporting every child to succeed in their journey of faith and education.
Our mission statement ‘The family of Holy Rood try to live, learn, grow and celebrate together as friends, through the love of Christ’ is central to all that we do and underpins every aspect of school life each and every day.
Holy Rood is a very happy and successful school, where children are encouraged to give of their best at all times. We recognise that every child is unique and a gift from God to our community. We work with our parents and carers to ensure that the academic potential of each child is met, whilst nurturing their faith and promoting independence, confidence and self- esteem – therefore developing the whole child who, by the end of KS2, is fully prepared for the life challenges ahead in the future.
Our school building is set within a fantastic school site that encompasses both large open green spaces and historic woodland. This incredible environment means we are blessed to be able to give every child the ideal place to learn, play and grow as friends, whilst also taking our responsibility to care for this environment very seriously as Stewards of God’s creation.
We firmly believe that for children to reach their full potential, excellent home-school relationships must exist and we aim to establish these from when your child first receives a place with us. These relationships are based on mutual trust, respect and belief in one another to help our children to be the best version of themselves that they can be.
Excellent standards are achieved through high expectations, self- belief, support, challenge, encouragement and praise. We have excellent staff and an outstanding curriculum which will provide your child with memorable and enriching experiences every day to embed new concepts and ignite a passion for learning which we hope will last with them forever. A visitor recently reported that Holy Rood is a school where ‘every child is known and loved’; a statement we hold in very high esteem as a true reflection of our mission and vocation as educators in our very special school.
Thank you for taking an interest in our school and we hope to see you very soon.
God bless,
Mrs E. Braund, Headteacher

Welcome to the All Saints Catholic Academy Trust (ASCAT).
Formed in 2016, as part of the Diocese of Westminster's Academy Strategy, we provide a collaborative structure of school support and innovation for Catholic schools in South West Hertfordshire. As we grow in the coming years to welcome more of the Catholic Primary and Secondary schools from the Watford, St Albans and Dacorum areas, we look forward to further developing and strengthening partnerships of faith, support, mutual challenge and innovation as we seek to ensure 'An Outstanding Catholic Education for All' , as well as professional communities in which all staff are enabled to flourish and to contribute their unique, God-given gifts and talents to our shared mission.
