Horizons College are seeking to appoint an outstanding Functional Skills Tutor that will be able to teach English and/or Maths, to join an established Independent Specialist Provider due to the growth and development of the college.
Experience working with SEND is advantageous however this position may also be suitable for a candidate looking to move across teaching into SEND.
The job role
- The successful candidate will have a passion for SEN
- Teaching English and/or Maths in a functional way to increase independence for learners (aged 16 +) with Moderate Learning difficulties and ASD Spectrum (Entry level up to Level 2)• Implement appropriate assessment, objective setting, recording, reporting and evaluation ofeducational programmes
- Effectively plan teaching within designated subject areas
- Ensure that learner experiences are organised in a progression which supports the development of each individual
- Working with integrated therapy programmes to develop communication and self-regulation skills
- Promoting the well-being of young people and staff whilst developing good relationships with all learners and parents/carers
