Welsh Language Assistant

Location: Howell's School, Llandaff

Required from: September 2021

Contract term: Permanent

Hours: Approximately 7 hours per week during term time. Hours are finalised every September when the option choices are confirmed.

The Role:

Rydym yn chwilio am gynorthwy-ydd deinamig a brwdfrydig a fydd yn medru ysbrydoli myfyrwyr yn ogystal â medru helpu gyda rhai gweithgareddau allgyrsiol. Bydd y person llwyddiannus yn gweithio’n bennaf gyda grwpiau TGAU a Safon Uwch gan roi cymorth unigol wrth baratoi myfyrwyr ar gyfer yr unedau llafar yn eu harholiadau.

Bydd angen i’r ymgeisydd llwyddiannus:

• Gyfathrebu’n rhugl a safonol yn yr iaith

• Ddarparu gweithgareddau effeithiol a diddorol mewn gwersi llafar yn seiledig ar brofiad blaenorol mewn lleoliad addysgol

• Ddarparu cymorth ac addysgu addas i gynorthwyo myfyrwyr gyda’u gallu ieithyddol

• Asesu cynnydd y myfyrwyr gan gynnig cyngor ar sut i wella

We are looking for a dynamic Welsh Language Assistant who is passionate about the subject area and can inspire their classes, as well as aid in extra-curricular activities such as Languages Week and Languages Celebration Evening. The successful candidate will work with mainly the GCSE and A level groups, providing group and individual support with the speaking aspect of the examinations.

The successful candidate will have the ability to:

• Communicate fluently in the language, to mother-tongue standard

• Provide effective and engaging activities and oral language lessons, from previous experience in an educational setting

• Provide appropriate levels of instruction, help and support for students to improve their linguistic ability

• Assess student performance and to offer advice on how to improve

The Department:

 Mae’r Adran Gymraeg yn un flaengar a llwyddiannus gyda’i haelodau’n cyd-weithio’n agos. Lleolir yr ystafelloedd dysgu yn yr Ysgol Uwchradd a’r Coleg a cheir byrddau gwyn rhyngweithiol yn y ddwy ystafell. Disgwylir i’r myfyrwyr ddod â’u dyfais eu hunain i’r gwersi gyda’r defnydd o dechnoleg yn rhan ganolog o bob gwers. Ar hyn o bryd ceir dwy athrawes yn yr Adran Gymraeg gyda chydweithio cyson rhyngddynt ag aelodau’r Adran Ieithoedd.

Dilynir manylebau bwrdd arholi CBAC ar gyfer arholiadau TGAU, Uwch Gyfrannol a Safon Uwch Cymraeg fel Ail Iaith. Dysgir myfyrwyr Blwyddyn 7 mewn dosbarthiadau gallu cymysg gan astudio Ffrangeg, Sbaeneg a Chymraeg. Ym Mlwyddyn 8 byddant yn cael dewis parhau gyda dwy iaith a dechrau gwersi Lladin. Gwneir darpariaeth ar gyfer myfyrwyr mamiaith ac ail iaith yn yr ysgol a chynigir Cymraeg a Chymraeg Ail Iaith ar gyfer TGAU a Safon Uwch. Mae gan yr Adran Gymraeg gysylltiad cryf â’r Urdd gan fynychu’r gwersylloedd yn flynyddol a chystadlu yn yr Eisteddfod. Mae Eisteddfod Ysgol Howell ym mis Mawrth yn un o uchafbwyntiau’r flwyddyn ysgol ac chafwyd Eisteddfod Ddigidol am y tro cyntaf eleni gyda’r ysgol yn dathlu 90 mlynedd o gynnal eisteddfodau yn Ysgol Howell.
