POST TITLE: Learning Support Assistant (SEND)

SCHOOL: Hugh Sexey C of E Middle School

LOCATION: Blackford, Wedmore, Somerset

CONTRACT TERM: Initially Fixed Term 1 Year

GRADE: Grade 14 PT 4(£25,185 pa pro-rata)

ACTUAL SALARY: £17,520

HOURS: 30.85hrs per week /Term Time Only (Inc 30 mins unpaid lunch)

START DATE: As soon as possible

Hugh Sexey Church of England Middle School seeks to appoint a talented and dynamic individual to support our Teachers and help inspire our students. This post is funded to support pupil(s) with specific needs and

will continue for as long as the funding remains in place.

Candidates will need to demonstrate:

  • Experience of working with or relating to young people and have a commitment to their education, development, welfare, and aspirations – with particular focus on Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND)
  • Ability or experience of supporting children with intimate care, training can be provided
  • Ability to plan, deliver and review interventions, including for pupils with social & behavioural needs.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Motivation and innovation
  • Empathy when working with children experiencing difficulties
  • Committed to achieving outstanding results for our more vulnerable learners
  • Good interpersonal, communication and administration skills
