Teacher of A Level Sociology (0.6fte) with option of taking on 0.4fte as Teacher of Psychology

Full time. Permanent. To start as soon as practically possible.

Qualified Teachers’ Pay Scale.

This is an exciting opportunity for a well-qualified and ambitious colleague to join our post 16 provision working across two of our most popular subjects in sixth form as well as possibly delivering GCSE Psychology in year 10 and 11. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the continued development and teaching of Sociology and Psychology at the academy as well as contributing to the wonderful and positive atmosphere at Huish Sixth.

Both Sociology and Psychology are currently taught to the AQA specification.

We anticipate that there will be total of four classes initially in the sixth form studying sociology this year (2 in year 13 and 2 in year 12). Sociology is a popular choice amongst our students and examination results to date have been very encouraging with many students meeting and exceeding their target grades.

There are multiple Psychology classes across KS4 and 5, with results in KS5 significantly above national figures over the last few years. The Social Sciences faculty is led by Lucy Gill who will be the line manager of the successful applicant.
