We are seeking a biologist, ideally with A-level experience, to join us from September. If you are a talented, highly motivated practitioner with the ability and enthusiasm to deliver innovative and enjoyable lessons we would love to hear from you. Science is a strong and thriving department, staffed by a committed, collaborative and supportive team of thirteen teachers and four technicians.

About Us

Hinchley Wood is a state comprehensive which is an inclusive and high achieving school. We are based in Esher, Surrey on the boarders of SW London. We celebrate students’ holistic progress and development as well as academic achievement and are very proud to be one of the top 200 performing schools in England and Wales. We have over 1400 students on roll including over 300 students in our Sixth Form. An Ofsted inspection in September 2023 judged us to be “outstanding” stating that, ‘there is a strong learning culture across the school’ and ‘the development of pupils’ character is exemplary.’

In return for your hard work, we offer exceptional support and training and the rewards that come with teaching science to students who really want to learn. If you are an outstanding, inspirational teacher with a strong desire to help students of all abilities to achieve the best they can, whilst fulfilling your own potential, then we would be very pleased to hear from you.

We take staff and student wellbeing very seriously and have invested time and money in ensuring that all members of our school feel supported and happy. As well as the opportunity to work in an Ofsted Outstanding school, we offer:

  • a competitive salary (London Fringe Pay Scale/dependent upon experience);
  • professional development support and an extensive CPD programme;
  • two-week Autumn half term;
  • early close to students at 1.30pm on Fridays;
  • a fortnightly early finish for 0.8 FTE+ staff (reviewed year on year)
  • generous employer pension contributions;
  • cycle to work scheme and free onsite fitness suite;
  • priority admissions criteria, enabling any children of the postholder to be considered for priority admission to the school upon commencement of role;
  • thriving and varied staff enrichment programme;
  • 50% discount on wraparound provision fees for children of staff if they attend one of the trust schools (Thames Ditton Junior School or Hinchley Wood Primary School) TDJS or HWPS

We welcome interest from newly qualified teachers, as well as experienced practitioners. For newly qualified ECTs, in addition to above we offer:

  • a paid induction in July;
  • a dedicated mentor with regular mentor meetings and coaching;

Deadline for applications is: Thursday 30th April (9.00am).

Early enquiries and applications encouraged and we reserve the right to interview and appoint prior to the advert deadline.
