Islwyn Special Resource Base is an integral part of Islwyn High School, a brand new 21st Century School in the County of Caerphilly, which opened in September 2016 as a result of an amalgamation of Oakdale and Pontllanfraith Comprehensive Schools.
The SRB is a Resource Base for 73 pupils with complex needs. It is maintained by Caerphilly County Borough Council and caters for pupils between the ages of 11 – 16 who require a nurturing learning environment and have a statement of special educational needs.
Islwyn Resource Base has a brand new, state of the art facility that allows staff to create a safe, happy and healthy learning environment, providing the best care, support and guidance for every pupil.
The pupils attending the SRB have a wide range of educational needs and a number have associated severe and complex behavioural needs.
The Resource Base provides pupils with access to appropriately skilled teaching and in-class support, in small teaching groups. Pupils also access a range of educational experiences outside the classroom.
Applicants will work to support pupils who have complex learning difficulties aged between 11 years – 16 years of age. They should be reliable, resilient and flexible and work well as part of a team.

• Experience in attending to personal care needs of children and young adults;
• Ability to support pupil’s emotional wellbeing / development;
• The ability to follow instruction and have a desire to further their professional development;
• Enthusiasm and a conscientious approach;
