Governors are seeking to appointment an enthusiastic, innovative and dynamic Assistant Headteacher (Pastoral) to join the Senior Leadership Team. The generic job description of the Assistant Headteacher is included but specific areas of responsibility will be identified with the successful candidate in terms of their experience and skills. The school is committed to developing a broad portfolio for the successful candidate which will allow them to hone their skills to support their own future development. Areas that the school might prioritise from could include:
· Attendance Lead
· Pupil support centre/Alternative provision Lead
· Safeguarding Lead
· Behaviour Support
· Pastoral lead for a Key Stage
Joining a leadership team comprising of Headteacher, two Deputy Headteachers (One Pastoral Lead and one Standards/Curriculum Lead), three (two other) Assistant Headteachers and a Business Manager we are seeking to appoint a candidate who:
· Can lead, motivate, challenge and inspire pupils and staff;
· Is able to manage change effectively to continue to raise standards;
· Inspires confidence in, and establishes excellent relationships with pupils, staff and
parents;
· Is passionate about tackling the impact of poverty on children’s life chances;
· Is an outstanding classroom practitioner with exceptional organisational and communication skills;
· Is committed to their own continuous professional development and that of others.
Islwyn High School is situated near Blackwood in Gwent. The school was purpose built in 2017 comprising a single three storey building. Its modern design includes state of the art facilities for subjects such as Science and Technology, a full-size sports hall, performance hall and music suite, as well as a floodlit 4G sports pitch and fitness suite. IT and audio-visual facilities available in all classrooms reflect significant investment in the teaching and learning environment for our pupils.
