Cover Supervisor / Inclusion Officer

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Islwyn High’s team as a Cover Supervisor/Inclusion Officer.

Grade 5 pro rata, 35 hours per week - term time only, including Inset Days

Governors are seeking to appoint an individual to work under the guidance of teaching/senior staff and within an agreed system of supervision, to implement agreed work programmes with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom. This could include those requiring detailed and specialist knowledge in particular areas and will involve assisting the teacher in the whole planning cycle and the management/preparation of resources. The postholder will also supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers. The primary focus will be to maintain good order and to keep pupils on task. Whilst cover will be the main purpose of this role, the postholder will also be an integral part of our Inclusion Team, providing pastoral support to pupils in line with the school’s Behaviour Management Procedures.

From time to time the successful candidate may be given a timetable commitment to cover longer term staff absence for which additional payment at the appropriate point of the teacher’s pay scale will be made. We are therefore keen to hear about your subject expertise or areas of interest through your application form.

The successful candidate will be working in a purpose-built new school completed in 2017. The main structure of the school is three storeys high with a sports hall of a similar height linked, via a glass bridge, to a two-storey building that is the school dining hall. This modern design also include a garden, an amphitheatre and a pond. The school boasts a floodlit 3G sports pitch and fitness suite, along with a multi-use sports pitch for netball and tennis. There is an outstanding performance hall and music suite.

We welcome applications from candidates who:

• deliver creative and engaging lessons which challenge and inspire learners

• are reflective practitioners, always willing to refine and improve their practice, with the highest expectations of themselves and those around them

• are strong team players who are collaborative with first-class interpersonal skills

• are approachable on both a professional and personal level

• are resilient and driven to ensure that every learner reaches their potential.

Closing date for applications:- 10am Monday 13th May 2024.
