Located within the picturesque Glengorse Estate in Battle, East Sussex, ISP School specialises in providing bespoke education for children between the ages of 7 and 16 who face challenges related to social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH), communication and interaction, cognition, and learning needs.
At our school, we prioritise creating a secure, serene, and nurturing learning environment that empowers students to reach their full potential. Our approach is holistic and therapeutic, fostering positive relationships, self-discipline, self-esteem, and resilience. Through this approach, we support students in making significant progress that aligns with their unique learning needs and individual starting points. With a deep understanding of attachment and trauma, we work sensitively to ensure that students feel safe, included within our school community, and attend regularly.
Our small and welcoming classes, comprising no more than 7 pupils per class, enable our teachers and Progress Engagement Guides (PEGs) to establish trusting relationships with each student. These relationships form the foundation of our educational approach.
Our goal is to provide comprehensive support for children in order to help them achieve positive outcomes based on their abilities. We offer a diverse curriculum that prepares students for external accreditation at the GCSE level, where applicable. To enrich our curriculum, we incorporate vocational qualifications such as GCSEs in English, Maths, Geography, History, and Biology. Additionally, we provide various BTEC courses, including Music and Media. If needed, we can also offer Entry Level qualifications and AQA units.
Within our supportive environment, we foster the development of essential social communication skills, allowing students to express themselves appropriately. We encourage children to cultivate an understanding of and respect for others. Our empathetic, reflective, responsible, and engaging learning environment empowers children to strike a balance between academic learning and the exploration of effective social skills. Moreover, we focus on equipping them with strategies for positive behavior management and overall growth.
Our Qualified Teachers and Progress Engagement Guides make up the core of the team for the school, alongside this we will have an inspirational Head Teacher with vast experience within SEN, and a Deputy Head who will support the educational development of pupils as well as working alongside the Head to develop the school.
The on-site Speech and Language Department will assist the school in helping pupils with their day to day communication and cognition needs.
The Director of Education for the Group, who has 30 years’ experience in education, 20 of those with vulnerable children with complex needs, takes an active role in overseeing the whole provision
Our Governing Body is both robust and active in keeping the school moving forward.
