Job Title: Teaching Assistant Level 1 (Student Support)

Actual Annual Salary: £18,906 - £20,607 (Based on hours and working weeks)

Full Time Equivalent Salary: £25,136 - £27,398 (CLF Grade B) Based on Full Time hours, All Year Round.

Contract Length: Fixed until 27/08/2026

Hours: Part-time, 32.5 hours per week Term Time Only (plus INSET days)

Additional role info: Working Pattern - Monday to Friday

CLF Post 16 are currently searching for a Student Support/Teaching Assistant to join their busy Inclusion Team.

The successful applicant will

  • Assist in the educational, personal and social development of designated students under the direction and guidance of relevant colleagues (e.g. the Principal, SENCo, phase leaders and class teachers).
  • Support students by adopting relevant strategies and techniques to enable them to access the curriculum, engage with their learning and achieve their full potential.
  • Take responsibility for implementing planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with the teacher, adjusting activities according to students’ responses as appropriate.
  • Deliver measurable impact on student attainment and progress.
  • Have the ability and confidence to facilitate learning in the absence of a teacher to avoid lost learning.
  • Work collaboratively with relevant and supportive colleagues to fulfil the requirements of the role.

About you:

You will:

  • Have an understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities and how a teaching assistant supports students in their learning.
  • Be able to engage students and motivate learning on a one to one or small group basis.
  • Be committed to undertake relevant qualifications, e.g. relevant NVQ Level 2/ 3 in supporting teaching and learning or equivalent, first aid qualification, to ensure ongoing professional development.
  • Support progress intervention sessions to close gaps in student learning.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills, in particular with the ability to demonstrate empathy and active listening.
  • Have good planning and organisational skills, specifically with regard to learning activities and support materials.
  • be someone with a keen interest in working with children and commitment to inclusion and acceptance of all.

About Post 16 Academy:

The CLF Post 16 Academy is situated in South Gloucestershire, hosted at John Cabot Academy, and serves the students of Bristol across two local authorities. We are a centre of education for ages 16-19 offering a range of level 1, 2 and 3 vocational courses and a full breadth of A Level qualifications.
