At Langshott Primary School, we are looking for a friendly, committed individual to join our governing body as a Local Authority Governor. This is a rewarding voluntary role where you can make a real difference to the lives of our pupils and support the continued success of our school. The position is subject to nomination by the Local Authority and approval by the governing body.

School governors work together to support and guide the school at a strategic level. This includes:

• Helping to shape the school’s vision and direction

Governors work alongside school leaders to set priorities and support ongoing improvement.

• Supporting and challenging school leadership

Governors help ensure children receive a high-quality education and that the school continues to develop and achieve strong outcomes.

• Overseeing how the school’s budget is used

Governors make sure resources are spent wisely and in ways that best support pupils’ learning and wellbeing.

We would particularly welcome interest from individuals with experience in areas such as finance, HR, data, or education, although this is not essential. If you are interested in supporting children and contributing to your local community, we would love to hear from you. Training and ongoing support are provided, and no prior governor experience is required.

Governors are expected to attend four full governing body meetings each year, which are held in person on Wednesdays from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. In addition, there are approximately five finance committee meetings per year, usually held on Mondays between 12.00pm and 1.00pm, which can be attended either in person or via Microsoft Teams.

Applicants must be aged 18 or over. Appointment will require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and other standard safeguarding checks.

Please note that, to be eligible for this role, you must not be employed by Langshott Primary School.

Safeguarding Statement

Langshott Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role, along with other appropriate pre-appointment checks.
