We are looking for a part-time Teaching and Learning Leader to work within the Lighthouse Specialist Centre for Deaf children at Guildford Grove Primary School, starting September 2025.
This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role in an inclusive and forward-thinking school at the heart of the local community.
Guildford Grove is a two-form entry primary school, with a maintained nursery and a Specialist Centre for profoundly deaf children. Our aim is for every one of our children to leave Guildford Grove with a true love of learning and high aspirations for their future, and we work in close partnership with parents to achieve the best for each child.
The majority of our children in the Lighthouse need signed communication and may also have additional special needs. Our 16 deaf pupils are included in mainstream classes with communication support, while also receiving specialist one-to-one or small-group teaching across a range of subjects.
The successful candidate will:
• Be a qualified Teacher of the Deaf
• Have Signature Level 2 (or equivalent) in British Sign Language
• Have experience in leading a team
• Be enthusiastic about the role
• Be able to form positive relationships with both children and staff
• Be committed to ensuring that high quality teaching and learning is delivered across all subjects
• Have a desire to make a positive contribution to our school
What we will offer in return:
• An innovative curriculum, including the teaching of British Sign Language across KS2
• A school which values inclusion and provides an opportunity to excel in meeting the needs of a range of learners including those with additional needs
• Happy and enthusiastic children who love to learn
• An experienced, welcoming team who strive to keep up to date with current educational research and evidence informed practice
• A school that goes beyond the academic subjects and provides amazing enrichment opportunities for all pupils, including trips, musical performances and sporting events
• Excellent networking and career opportunities across our growing academy trust
• Extensive staff benefits including Employee Assistance Scheme, high street discounts, cycle to work scheme, electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme, discounted gym membership and free will-writing service
We want to attract the broadest range of talented people to be part of Learning Partners Academy Trust. We aspire to have a diverse and inclusive workforce and particularly welcome suitably qualified applicants from a wide range of backgrounds to join our trust.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and strongly encouraged. Please contact Katie Lorente (HR Assistant) in the school office for more information. Katielorente @ guildfordgrove.surrey.sch.uk
We reserve the right to interview prior to the closing date so early applications are encouraged.
