Glebelands School — Finance Officer
30 Hours a week, 42 weeks a year | Start date: May 2026
Glebelands School is a community secondary school for students aged 11 to 16 and part of Learning Partners Academy Trust. We are a school built on two simple but powerful words: respect and achieve. We don't apologise for our high expectations — of our students, our staff, or ourselves — and we are continually strengthening and improving everything we do. If you share that drive for doing things properly and doing them well, you'll fit right in.
Be the Financial Backbone of Something That Matters.
Behind every well-resourced classroom, every school trip that runs without a hitch, every supplier paid on time — there's a Finance Officer who made it happen. Quietly, accurately and without fuss. That could be you.
We're looking for a Finance Officer who takes genuine pride in getting the details right. Someone who understands that in a school, strong financial management isn't just good practice — it's what allows great things to happen for young people every day. You'll take ownership of our transactional finance operations, from accounts payable and purchasing through to income recording, VAT returns and month-end reporting. You'll maintain rigorous audit trails, produce budget holder reports, manage credit control and ensure every process reflects the trust's financial policies and compliance requirements.
Just as importantly, you'll lead and support our Finance Assistant — planning workloads, developing skills and fostering the kind of positive, solutions-focused culture that makes a finance team genuinely excellent.
You'll thrive here if you:
• Have solid experience in transactional finance and a thorough understanding of financial controls and procurement processes
• Are AAT qualified — or bring equivalent experience that speaks for itself
• Communicate financial information clearly to colleagues who aren't finance specialists
• Lead by example: calm, accurate, reliable and always ahead of the deadline
• Are equally comfortable with the detail of a journal entry and the bigger picture of budget monitoring
What's in it for you?
We offer a friendly, professional team with a strong collaborative ethos, an excellent benefits package, Local Government Pension Scheme membership, a supportive senior leadership team, and training and development tailored to your needs — all within a rewarding role that makes a genuine difference to young people every day.
If you're the person who keeps the finances solid so everything else can move forward with confidence, we'd really love to hear from you.
