This is an exciting opportunity to take on a senior leadership role in an inclusive and forward-thinking school at the heart of the local community. We are looking for a Deputy Headteacher to join our team in September 2025 or January 2026, and we will consider applications from full-time and part-time (4 days per week) candidates.
Guildford Grove is a two-form entry primary school, with a maintained nursery and a Specialist Centre for profoundly deaf children. Our aim is for every one of our children to leave Guildford Grove with a true love of learning and high aspirations for their future, and we work in close partnership with parents to achieve the best for each child.
You will take the lead on inclusion across the school, including strategic leadership of the SEND team, Lighthouse specialist centre team and safeguarding team, focusing on providing a supportive and aspirational environment for all of our vulnerable learners.
The successful candidate will have:
• An innovative approach to problem solving, thinking outside the box to offer creative solutions to challenges and barriers
• A sound knowledge of systems and processes that support improved outcomes for vulnerable learners
• Extensive experience of leading a team and developing inspiring leaders
• A strong commitment to raising educational attainment for children and young people, including working with pupils directly and supporting other staff to do so
• The ability to drive change and achieve sustainable improvement
• A desire to make a positive contribution to the school
What we will offer in return:
• A school that goes beyond the academic subjects and provides amazing enrichment opportunities for all pupils, including trips, musical performances and sporting events
• Excellent networking and career opportunities across our thriving and collaborative academy trust
• An innovative curriculum, including the teaching of British Sign Language across KS2
• A school which values inclusion and provides an opportunity to excel in meeting the needs of a range of learners including those with additional needs
• Happy and enthusiastic children who love to learn
• An experienced, welcoming team who strive to keep up to date with current educational research and evidence informed practice
• A family-friendly employer – working within a team which understands that operational needs can be balanced with family responsibilities
• Extensive staff benefits including Employee Assistance Scheme, high street discounts, cycle to work scheme, electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme, discounted gym membership and free will-writing service
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and strongly encouraged. For more information please contact Katie Lorente in our school office.
Applicants must be available for interview on Friday 2nd May. In the event that there is a strong field of candidates, we reserve the right to interview before the closing date so we would recommend early applications.
Guildford Grove Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. All successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
