An exciting leadership opportunity

Guildford County is an outstanding school looking to appoint an exceptional individual to lead the English Department, ensuring high quality curriculum development and delivery and exceptional learning and teaching. English is a high performing department in the school with a very supportive team ethos and strong results, with many students progressing to read English at University. The successful applicant will have excellent subject knowledge and be a strong leader.

Heads of subject departments at County are custodians of their curriculum, their teams and of learning and teaching within their departments. With this in mind, we are seeking an inspirational Director of English to lead our successful English Department and drive excellence in teaching, learning and co-curricular provision across the school.

This is a key middle leadership role for an exceptional classroom practitioner with a proven track record of raising standards and developing others. The successful candidate will teach across all key stages, including A Level, and will play a central role in shaping the strategic direction of English within the school.

We are looking for someone to inspire the department to ensure that every student reaches their personal best and to encourage and maintain high levels of take-up at A level. The successful candidate should be enthusiastic and keen to contribute to all other aspects of school life.
