Are you interested in education and in supporting your local community?
Burpham Primary School is currently looking for two Community Governors to join our collaborative and welcoming team.
In September 2025, following our most recent Ofsted visit, we were delighted that our report recognised many of our key strengths, including our ‘rich, engaging curriculum’ and our ‘strong, inclusive culture’. Our full report can be found here
Governors come from all walks of life and we encourage diversity within the team. As part of our local team, you need to both support and challenge the school. Governors need to ask questions to the school to help it investigate how it is performing. You don’t need to have worked in education or have any specific qualifications. You just need to be able to work effectively as part of a team, think strategically and be keen to make a positive difference. There is a time commitment of six meetings per school year (one each half term), plus short visits to the school in between meetings. Our meetings are held on school site on a Tuesday starting at 4p.m. and finishing by 6.p.m.
Burpham Primary School is part of the Learning Partner Academy Trust and you find more information about being a Governor on their website, or on our school’s Local Governing Body page.
If you are interested in finding out a little more about this rewarding voluntary role, or have any friends, family or work colleagues who might be interested, please contact the school via email or phone.
We look forward to hearing from you!
Burpham Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We particularly welcome applications from under represented groups including ethnicity, gender, transgender, age, disability, sexual orientation or religion.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. All successful applicants will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
