Shalford Infant & Nursery School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and skilled SEND Teacher to lead the day-to-day delivery of an exciting new SEND Inclusion Project.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who wants to make a tangible difference to children with SEND while helping to shape how targeted provision works across our school.
This isn't simply an intervention teaching role.
Working closely with the Headteacher and SENDCo, you will help us develop a high-quality, evidence-informed model of targeted SEND provision.
You will identify children's starting points, understand their barriers to learning, plan targeted provision, deliver interventions and carefully assess the impact.
Your responsibilities will include:
- assessing pupils' starting points and identifying barriers to learning;
- using appropriate screening and assessment tools, including speech and language screening;
- planning high-quality individual and small-group interventions;
- delivering targeted teaching in reading, writing and mathematics;
- delivering speech, language and communication interventions;
- delivering appropriate SEMH and social communication interventions;
- monitoring pupils' progress and evaluating the impact of interventions;
- adapting provision in response to assessment information;
- working closely with class teachers and the SENDCo;
- contributing to SEND reviews and discussions about pupil progress;
- sharing effective strategies with teachers and teaching assistants;
- working with external professionals where appropriate; and helping us develop a sustainable and effective approach to SEND inclusion across the school.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a qualified teacher who has a genuine passion for inclusion and a belief in high expectations for children with SEND.
You may already have significant experience of SEND, or you may be a talented classroom teacher looking to develop your expertise in this area.
Most importantly, you will be:
- an excellent teacher;
- passionate about improving outcomes for children with SEND;
- confident teaching small groups and individuals;
- skilled at using assessment to identify need and measure impact;
- knowledgeable about teaching and learning;
- able to adapt your teaching to meet individual needs;
- interested in speech, language and communication development;
- confident supporting children's social and emotional development;
- reflective and willing to evaluate whether provision is making a difference;
- highly collaborative and able to work alongside teachers, support staff and external professionals; and
- excited by the opportunity to help shape something new.
