Teacher of History/Politics

MPS/UPS

For September 2024

NOR: 1960 (11-18) (500 in Sixth Form)

A knowledgeable, dynamic and academically astute teacher of History and Politics is required to join our excellent Humanities team in September 2024 on a full time and permanent basis. We would welcome applications from newly qualified teachers. All applicants must demonstrate a passion for their subject and possess the ability and skills to inspire a love of learning. The ability to teach A Level would be advantageous and willingness to contribute to the extra-curricular programme is essential.

The thriving History and Politics team includes seven members of staff. They run very successful and popular examination courses at GCSE and A Level along with a varied extra-curricular programme, including overseas visits. Student results in History and Politics are very strong and numbers choosing the subject at KS4 and KS5 are high. Typically 57% of KS4 students study History at GCSE level and there are two A level groups in both Year 12 and Year 13. We run one A Level Politics class annually.

Ofsted said “pupils happily attend George Abbot School. They respect their teachers and behave well in lessons. Pupils take their studying seriously and try to get the most out of their experiences at school. Teachers expect a lot from pupils” (December 2019).
