NOR: 1960 (11-18) (450+ in Sixth Form)

A well-qualified and skilled Teacher of Mathematics and IT is required for September 2024, for a permanent full-time position. The person appointed will join a thriving and supportive Mathematics Faculty made up of 19 staff. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach across all three key stages. In the Sixth Form, 45% of our 450 Sixth Form students currently take Maths as an option and we offer both Maths and Further Maths A Levels. Within such a strong department at a large school, there are many opportunities for the successful applicant to take on extra responsibilities and develop professionally. The thriving Computer Science and ICT Department is made up of three team members. The Department runs very successful examination courses in GCSE Computer Science, A Level Computer Science and BTEC ICT. The department also offers extra-curricular programme activities such as Lego Mind Storm.

The ideal candidate will have the opportunity to teach across all key stages. There are also opportunities for school wide additional responsibilities such as a Teaching and Learning coach, ECT mentor or extra-curricular responsibilities, each carrying a TLR. Such responsibilities will be discussed with applicants dependent on individual interest and experience.

Ofsted said “pupils happily attend George Abbot School. They respect their teachers and behave well in lessons. Pupils take their studying seriously and try to get the most out of their experiences at school. Teachers expect a lot from pupils”.
