Assistant Head teacher opportunity in Leatherhead Trinity School
A fabulous Primary School in Leatherhead is looking to appoint an Assistant Headteacher for a fixed term maternity cover. Ideally this would be for a September start although we could be flexible with this and accommodate an October start date. This is a brilliant opportunity for an ambitious class teacher who is keen to try out a leadership role. We would equally welcome applications from experienced leaders who are looking for a new challenge.
Your role as an assistant head teacher would be to lead our COIN centre. This unit is a ‘low COIN’ model for children with developmental language disorders/delays and it is an integral part of the school, offering 21 places from Reception to Year 6. This means the children are educated within our mainstream classrooms or in small groups. The School is a big believer in creative and child-led learning and we pride ourselves on our unique COIN model whereby all children within the provision are fully immersed in the school community. Children have a bespoke timetable that reflects their needs, the therapy and interventions needed to support their development alongside academic progress and attainment.

JOB DESCRIPTION
- Work with children with an EHCP and SEND needs. Planning and delivering bespoke, specialist lessons including the teaching of literacy and maths in small groups
- Effective implementation of Educational Health Care Plans for pupils in the Communication and Interaction Needs Centre
- Supporting the inclusion of Centre and Mainstream pupils with Communication and Interaction Needs
- Working in partnership with parents, the Speech and Language therapists and COIN Learning Support Assistants
- To support and advise class teachers and LSAs on ways to meet the children’s needs in a mainstream classroom
- Support our learners to develop crucial life skills, meet their goals and aspirations through communication, independence and participation
- Attend Annual Reviews and other statutory meetings
- Using your organisational skills to make sure cross school interventions and catch up groups are having impact
- Deliver excellent collective worship sessions and support our Christian values
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Must have UK QTS
- Must be keen to learn and a team player
- Good understanding of the SEND
- Must be a creative, forward thinking and passionate teacher
- Evidence of strong classroom practice
