An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Construction Department for an experienced and highly motivated Lecturer to join our Construction delivery team with a focus on Higher Education (HE) in a Further Education (FE) setting.
We are seeking an individual with a strong Construction Built Environment/Construction Management background gained through industry and/or HE/FE teaching experience. This is a forward-facing teaching role and key responsibilities include:
Delivering high quality theoretical and practical teaching
Designing and improving learning experiences
Planning and carrying out assessments in line with awarding body requirements
Monitoring, recording, and supporting student progress using college systems
Contributing to strong student retention, achievement, and progression outcomes
Candidates should demonstrate a strong record of accomplishment of high-quality teaching and learning, alongside experience of curriculum design, internal verification, standardisation and course performance review using quality and performance indicators. Experience of HE quality processes and awarding organisation requirements is highly desirable.
The successful applicant will deliver provision across Higher Education programmes, T-Levels, and support delivery across wider FE programmes as determined by timetable requirements. Working closely with the Programme Lead/Programme Manager the successful candidate will help assist learner progression from FE study programmes into professional construction roles or further study. The role has a strong emphasis on inclusion, academic leadership, quality assurance, awarding body compliance and student progression.
Key subjects that you will teach
We are looking for someone who can deliver a broad range of Pearson BTEC Level 4 and 5 mandatory and optional units from the Construction Management specification ideally including:
- Unit 5: Legal and Statutory Requirements in Construction
- Unit 6: Digital Applications for Construction Information
- Unit 7: Surveying, Measuring and Setting out
- Unit 13: Building Information Modelling

You will hold the following:
- Level 2 in Maths and English (GCSE Grade C or above, GCSE Grade 4 or above or equivalent).
- Level 6 Construction Built Environment/Construction Management qualification (HNC/HND or above) is desirable
- Full Teacher qualification Level 5 or above or willing to work towards this e.g. Diploma in Education and Training, Cert Ed, PGCE or equivalent. Full support will be provided for those working toward a teaching qualification.
- Confidence with IT systems and the ability to support learners both in person and remotely are essential.
