We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Careers Leader to lead and develop our college-wide careers education, information, advice, and guidance (CEIAG) provision. This is a pivotal role in ensuring our students are well-prepared for their next steps—whether that’s further education, training, apprenticeships, or employment.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the strategic development and implementation of the college’s careers programme in line with the Gatsby Benchmarks and national guidance in partnership with key curriculum managers and staff.

Lead on all Quality Assurance kite marks including Matrix and Ofsted.

Coordinate and deliver high-quality careers education and guidance across all departments/campuses.

Build and maintain strong partnerships with employers, universities, and external agencies to enhance student opportunities.

Provide line management support to all careers staff working within Student Services and be responsible for ensuring adequate staffing within the teams, i.e. recruitment and selection as required.

To work in partnership with internal colleagues to ensure the delivery of high quality IAG to individuals and groups, representing the college at careers events and on local, regional and national forums.

Monitor and evaluate the impact of careers provision and report on outcomes to senior leadership to drive continuous development.

Support wider staff training and development in careers-related areas.

You will need to have the following:

A recognised qualification in careers guidance (e.g. Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development/Information, Advice and Guidance) is essential. If you do not currently have this qualification, then you must be able to demonstrate your ability to gain it within a reasonable time frame.

Level 2 minimum in Maths and English or the equivalent e.g. GCSE grade C or above, GCSE grade 4 or above)

Proven experience in a career’s leadership or advisory role, ideally within an educational setting.

Strong understanding of the Gatsby Benchmarks, labour market information, pre-entry, post-16/18 and 19+ pathways.

Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills and the confidence and ability to present and train a wide variety of audiences.

A proactive, student-centred approach with a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
