About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer for 29.6 hours per week (0.8 FTE) to consolidate its Highfields English Speaking of Other Languages (ESOL) and DWP ESOL provision.

You will have a minimum of three years ESOL teaching experience, preparing students for ESOL Skills for Life qualifications across a range of levels. A proven track record of working with students of different ages and abilities, assessing their language level, preparing and reviewing their Individual Learning Plans and completing all relevant enrolment, assessment and progression related documentation, is essential. You will also act as a conduit between EMES and the DWP, with the responsibility for conducting initial assessments and arranging class placements for all DWP referred students.

We require you hold a full teaching qualification at Level 5 or above or be willing to work towards obtaining one. If you do not hold a suitable teaching qualification, the College will support you to obtain this as part of our investment in your professional development.

You should also have or be working towards a Level 5 in your area of specialism and have a track record of delivering high quality teaching and learning. Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and the ability to work on their own initiative and as part of a team are essential for this role.

The adaptation and implementation of College systems with a view to making high quality learning accessible to all ESOL students and monitoring their impact on individual students and their learning is one of the key features of this role.

You must be able to demonstrate experience of using ProMonitor and Markbook effectively, to set up assessment schedules and to review learning. A substantial amount of internal verification of English, Maths and ICT qualifications will need to be undertaken to support the Curriculum Area with its quality assurance processes.

For more details, please take a look at the role description. We'll still consider applications even if you don't meet every single one of the requirements, so don't be put off if you don't match them perfectly.

Interview date: Wednesday 26th August 2026
