We are seeking a Functional Skills Maths Lecturer to join Launch Pad, our specialist provision focused on re‑engaging young people and providing a positive, empowering educational experience.
You will deliver Functional Skills Maths from Entry Level 2 to Level 2 to classes of up to 20 learners, many of whom may have previously disengaged from education or had difficult educational experiences. Teaching within Launch Pad is relationship‑centred and informed by trauma‑aware and inclusive practice, with a strong emphasis on rebuilding confidence and motivation.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver high‑quality Functional Skills maths teaching (E2–Level 2)
Plan flexible, differentiated lessons to meet individual learner needs
Support learners who may be anxious, disengaged or lack confidence in maths
Create a safe, inclusive and encouraging learning environment
Monitor learner progress and set achievable individual targets
Work collaboratively with the Launch Pad team to support learner engagement and success
About You
Experience teaching Functional Skills Maths from Entry Level to Level 2
A positive, patient and learner‑centred approach
An interest or background in working with disengaged young people, youth work, alternative provision or trauma‑informed practice would be an advantage
Qualifications
Degree‑level qualification (or equivalent experience)
Level 2 Maths and English (GCSE Grade C/4 or above or equivalent)
Full teaching qualification at Level 5 or above, or willingness to work towards one (training support available)
This 0.5 post (2.5 days per week) offers an opportunity to teach maths in a supportive, values‑led setting and make a meaningful difference to learners’ educational journeys.
