Technician. Higher Education Department. Part Time. 20 hours per week. Permanent.
We are looking to recruit a qualified and experienced biology laboratory technician to join our Science and Humanities department from August 2024. The role involves the planning, preparation and support for a range of practical activities for courses at both Level 2 and Level 3, including Access to Higher Education Diplomas, GCSEs and the new T-Level qualifications.
You should have the following:
- A sound knowledge of working in laboratory conditions in education and ideally, industry settings.
- Specialist knowledge in biology and have studied this to A level standard (or equivalent) as a minimum requirement. Although primarily based in biology, there will be some chemistry and physics practicals to assist with as required.
- Level 2 maths and English (GCSE Grade C or above, GCSE Grade 4 or above or the equivalent)
An enthusiastic, flexible and motivated team player, the candidate will have an eye for detail, the ability to follow detailed instructions and a willingness to learn new skills. A commitment to continuous professional development is essential. The role involves the co-management of a practical calendar and the timely ordering of supplies and equipment to ensure that the teaching team are fully supported.
A full understanding of safe working practices in line with CLEAPSS and COSHH is essential, as is hazard management. For further details please refer to the job description.
