We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Garment Making Technician/Supervisor to join our successful and vibrant Fashion Department, supporting our Level 2 and Level 3 post-16 Fashion programmes.
The successful candidate will possess excellent garment construction skills and substantial experience using industrial sewing machinery. The postholder will provide pre class preparation and in class technical support for teachers and students. They will be responsible for maintaining fabrics, tools and equipment stock levels, including raising purchase orders. The postholder will also ensure that all users of machinery and equipment operate in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and undertake or coordinate machine maintenance. They will be sufficiently knowledgeable to supervise student-directed study sessions and, in doing so, will contribute to the development of the College’s exciting and successful Fashion provision.
The successful applicant will work collaboratively as part of the wider supervision team responsible for supporting shows, exhibitions, and promotional activities across the department.
Knowledge of pattern cutting would be desirable but is not essential.
