We are seeking an experienced, detail‑driven Data Manager to join Cabot Learning Federation’s Central Data Team on a permanent basis, based at City Academy Bristol. Reporting to the Senior Data Manager, you will work within a Cluster Data Team, providing high‑quality, responsive data support to academies within the allocated cluster.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring the effective management, integrity and meaningful use of the Trust’s student and performance data. With a strong focus on the Trust’s MIS (Bromcom), you will work collaboratively with Central Data colleagues, academy leaders, teachers and professional services staff to deliver reliable reporting, statutory returns and insightful analysis. Your work will directly support improvement planning, accountability and data‑informed decision‑making, helping to improve outcomes for children and young people across the Trust.

This is a varied, trust‑wide role within a collaborative, values‑driven multi‑academy trust. While physically based at City Academy Bristol, the postholder will support and cover academies across the assigned cluster, working flexibly as part of both the Central and Cluster Data Teams.

About the role

You will:

  • Work as part of the Cluster Data Team, managing, maintaining and assuring the quality of accurate, secure and compliant student data across supported academies.
  • Provide expert oversight and day‑to‑day administration of the Trust’s MIS (particularly Bromcom), ensuring effective configuration, permissions, data structures and consistent use.
  • Lead on key academic year processes, including start‑ and end‑of‑year procedures, admissions and transitions, timetabling support and statutory census and data returns.
  • Support academy leaders and teaching staff by providing timely, accurate and meaningful data to inform attainment tracking, progress monitoring, operational planning and strategic decision‑making.
  • Deliver training, guidance, user documentation and responsive day‑to‑day support to improve confidence, capability and consistency in the use of data systems and processes.
  • Ensure full compliance with GDPR, data protection legislation, retention schedules, FOI/SAR requirements and Trust policies, safeguarding the integrity and confidentiality of data at all times.
  • Work collaboratively with Data Managers across the wider Central Data Team to share best practice and contribute to continuous improvement of Trust‑wide data systems and processes.

About you

You will have:

  • Experience in data management or administration, ideally within an educational setting, with responsibility for maintaining and developing data systems, or the ability to learn complex processes quickly.
  • Knowledge of performance measures, KPIs, qualification frameworks and the structure and demands of the academic year.
  • Experience using Management Information Systems (particularly Bromcom) alongside strong Excel and data‑handling skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a sustained commitment to data accuracy, validation and quality assurance.
  • The ability to work confidently with highly sensitive and confidential information, demonstrating professionalism, discretion and integrity.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload, meet deadlines and respond effectively to changing demands.
  • Confident communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build positive, effective working relationships with colleagues across academies and central teams.
  • Good literacy and numeracy, including GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent), and vocational experience equivalent to NVQ Level 4.
  • A strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding and equal opportunities, using high‑quality data to support positive outcomes for all children and young people.

Applicants are advised to refer to the full requirements of the role in the attached job description and person specification, prior to submitting an application.
