The Cedars Academy is an 11 to 18 academy in Birstall, on the outskirts of Leicester. We believe in kindness, hard work and personal responsibility, and we work tirelessly to teach these values to our pupils. We have an incredibly warm and welcoming body of staff who are creating a brilliant school in the heart of our community. We are a school where staff can and do make a real difference in the lives of young people.

We are currently looking to recruit a:

Teacher of Computer Science on a permanent contract starting as soon as possible – Full time

Salary: Main or Upper Pay Range

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of Computer Science and Creative iMedia to join our academy. Our successful candidate will be able to teach Computer Science at Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 would be desirable for possible future development). This is an exciting opportunity to aid in the development of Computer Science at the Cedars Academy, and as part of the Lionheart Trust you will work closely with the Director of Computing to drive further progress in computing subjects.

The department has three classrooms, each equipped with a full class set of computers linked to the school network. The rooms are fully resourced with whiteboards, projection equipment and various technical tools to assist in the teaching of Computer Science. Computer Science is a compulsory subject in Year 7 and 8 and taught weekly, and there are six teaching groups in each cohort. From Year 9, Computer Science, and CNAT iMedia becomes an optional subject and there is always a very capable cross-section of pupils who elect to study the subject at GCSE. We follow the OCR specifications at GCSE, and OCR for CNAT

Applications are welcome from experienced teachers as well as those beginning their careers (including ECTs).

This post is designated as a regulated activity and requires enhanced criminal records check for a regulated activity (including a barred list check).

If you would like to come and visit the Academy, or have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Closing date: 7 February 2023

We encourage applicants to apply as soon as possible as we reserve the right to close applications and interview early if we receive a high volume of applicants.

The Trust strives to be a diverse and inclusive place where all staff have a seat at the table: a seat to be free, a seat to inspire, a seat to challenge and a seat to succeed.

We currently have staff networks for staff who are Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME), Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer + (LGBTQ+), staff who would describe their background as working class and staff with a disability.
