About the Role

For January 2025, we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, inspiring and expert Teacher of PE with the potential for additional responsibility, depending on experience with an additional allowance. Responsibility will include leading areas of PE depending on the skills and experiences of the candidate. We are looking for someone who can lead by example and wants to make their mark on the development of PE at TLA. You will need to be able to work as a team member, supporting the Director of Faculty with driving PE forward whilst also showing initiative and independence.

You will teach across the ability range at KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to teach at KS5 for an appropriate candidate. The ability to teach another subject is an advantage and there will be the possibility of additional responsibilities for the right candidate.

PE forms an integral part of the curriculum across all key stages at TLA. The Sport and Nutrition Faculty offers a wide range of courses including GCSE PE (AQA), BTEC Tech Award in Sport, BTEC Sport L3 and Level 2 Qualification in Community Sports Leadership. At TLA, PE enjoys a high profile, with very good levels of participation by students. Extra-curricular clubs are well attended. We are part of the West Sussex South District Sports partnership. The partnership provides us with an extensive fixture schedule at district level. Many of our sports teams consistently win district competitions and reach the latter stages of County and National competitions.

Our sports facilities are state of the art: 1 3G pitch, 1 astroturf pitch, 2 sports halls, a large field area, a dance studio and a fitness suite.

Closing Date: midday on Monday 25 June 2023. We reserve the right to close the vacancy before the closing date so please apply early.

The successful applicant will be required to undergo full safeguarding and vetting checks, including references and an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, and will be subject to a period of probation.
