The Governors are seeking to appoint a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to cover classes across the school. The successful applicant will be a highly flexible and proactive practitioner who will be able to plan and deliver high quality lessons. This role may also include a commitment to delivering PE provision on some afternoons.

St Peter’s is a 630-place primary with beautiful buildings set in lovely green surroundings. It is a welcoming inclusive school with a strong Christian ethos and was judged to be ‘Excellent’ in the last SIAMs (church school) inspection in February 2020 and ‘Outstanding’ in our most recent Ofsted inspection in February 2023. We are one of 34 national English Hubs and are members of the Lighthouse Schools’ Partnership. We have a clear pedagogy, exciting curriculum, and high expectations of all members of our school community.  We seek to ensure that teaching and learning is of the highest quality and offer CPD to all staff to support their growth and development as excellent practitioners.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be passionate about making a difference to the education of all pupils
  • Be able to deliver high quality lessons, for whole classes, and assess pupil learning effectively
  • Have strong behaviour management strategies and an ability to maintain a calm and consistent classroom environment in line with school expectations
  • Be very flexible and able to adapt to teaching in any year group across the school – sometimes at short notice
  • Have excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Be able to work alongside our sports coaches to deliver high quality PE provision
  • Be a reflective practitioner with a strong desire to learn and improve.

This role would suit a practitioner with QTS who is looking to gain experience and excellent professional development opportunities, or an experienced support staff practitioner with a passion for teaching.

Closing date: 9am on Friday 23rd May

Interviews: Week beginning 9th June (TBC)
