The Role:
Blagdon Primary School are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Partner to join our supportive school team. You will play a pivotal role in supporting the learning, care and wellbeing of a specified young person with complex needs. You will work in close partnership with class teachers and the SENDCo to maintain a consistent approach to learning, developing the pupil's independence, confidence and resilience to succeed.
As a vital member of our support team, you will assist in delivering planned learning activities whilst also undertaking specific, health-related medical duties. This unique role involves providing daily personal care and carrying out essential medical procedures in line with training and the young person’s personalised care plan. Key Responsibilities:
- Support the learning, care and wellbeing of a specified young person under the guidance of teaching and healthcare professionals.
- Deliver brief, intensive and structured interventions that supplement classroom learning and enable the pupil to retain access to high-quality universal provision.
- Utilise scaffolding techniques to help pupils develop essential skills and become independent, confident and resilient learners.
- Provide "teaching triage" by roving the classroom to keep pupils on task, identifying those having difficulty and flagging them to the teacher for support.
- Establish positive, trusting relationships with young people while supporting their emotional regulation, communication strategies and overall wellbeing.
- Complete all required training provided by healthcare professionals to achieve full competency in the pupil's specific medical needs.
- Provide daily personal care and safely carry out specific, trained medical procedures—including invasive procedures such as tracheostomy tube changes if a healthcare professional is temporarily unavailable.
- Maintain accurate, confidential records of medical interventions while following all clinical, infection control and emergency response procedures.

Our School
We are a small rural school in the beautiful village of Blagdon and on the edge of the Mendip Hills. We have around a hundred and ten children organised over four mixed-age classes. The Trust
The Lighthouse Schools Partnership (LSP) is a Multi-Academy Trust which has experienced rapid growth since it started in 2016. There are currently 30 schools in the Trust.
