A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for caring and dedicated colleagues to join the Whiteoak Academies in our Speech & Language Resource Base, due to move into a brand-new, purpose built building in September 2025.  These Learning Partner vacancies would suit people with some SEND experience and a passion for inclusion; colleagues who wish to make a difference to young people with additional needs, across both KS1 and KS2, and keen to work closely and flexibly with colleagues in both the Resource Base and the mainstream schools.

At the Whiteoak Academies of Hannah More Infants & Grove Juniors, we are proud of our inclusive ethos, vision and values and have exciting plans for the future, including the development of this new Speech and Language Resource Base.  We offer beautiful outside spaces for learning in a natural setting and a forward thinking and supportive leadership team with high aspirations for all.  We are passionate about working together to make a difference to the lives of all our young people and are proud to be at the heart of our community, enjoying excellent relationships with parents and governors. We are also proud to be active members of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership (LSP).

The Resource Base will aim to provide the highest quality provision and outcomes for up to 12 pupils whose primary need is Speech, Language and Communication (SLCN).

Support staff play a vital role in supporting learning and pupil engagement. This role will be very diverse and rewarding and includes:

  • Supporting children’s learning inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Providing specific and helpful feedback to pupils, informing them of what they are doing well and supporting them to overcome any barriers to learning or misconceptions they might have.
  • Working alongside other members of support staff.
  • Working alongside the Resource Base Lead Teacher to support the delivery of targets as laid out in EHCPs or SEND outcomes.
  • Delivering specific interventions to support children’s next steps in learning, speech and language and social and emotional development.
  • Supporting with daily routines, pastoral care and pupil engagement.
  • Establishing trusting relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents.
  • Creating and maintaining an orderly and supportive environment by implementing our behaviour policy with consistency and care.
  • Upholding policies and procedures relating to child protection and data protection.

Ideally, applicants would:

  • Have previous experience of working with children with additional needs and / or SEND.
  • Have the ability to form positive relationships with children, staff and parents.
  • Be able to demonstrate strategies to manage behaviour calmly and effectively.
  • Have high expectations of all children and themselves.
  • Be organised, self-motivated and able to use own initiative, including the ability to plan and prepare work.
  • Be reflective and fully committed to continued professional development.
  • Be prepared to accompany children on school visits.
  • Be supportive of the school’s ethos, vision and values.

In return we can offer:

  • Enthusiastic, happy children.
  • A friendly and caring staff team.
  • Excellent care and support.
  • Highly supportive parents/carers and governors.
  • Good opportunities for individual growth and development.
  • A reflective and forward-thinking environment.
