LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT (SEND)

Fixed Term contract until 31 August 2027 (but could be extended)

Hours: 13 hours per week, term-time only (any inset days required will be paid as overtime) Working days are Monday – Wednesday.

Working hours are preferably:

• Monday 8:40 – 2:30

• Tuesday 10:00 – 2:30

• Wednesday 10:00 – 2:10

With 30 minutes unpaid lunch break

Contract: Fixed term, required ASAP until 31st August 2027

Salary: JG3 £24,790 - £25,183 FTE.  Actual salary: £10,069 - £10,168

We wish to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to work primarily in KS2 to provide teaching and learning support to a child/children with additional needs. We are seeking to appoint a reliable, resilient, calm, patient, caring and empathetic individual. We require a team player who is happy to take advice when required but is capable of showing initiative and creative thinking.

Wrington is a delightful one form entry rural primary school with beautiful grounds in a conservation area, at the foot of the Mendips. The school was awarded ‘Good’ in all categories in its last Ofsted inspection in 2025 and in 2022 it was judged as ‘Good’ in a SIAMS inspection. The school is proud to be a Platinum Sports school.

The successful candidate will have:

• Some experience of working with primary age children, ideally having experience of working with children who have SEMH/SEND needs

• Strong interpersonal skills, be a positive and enthusiastic team player, working with staff, parents and children

• A commitment to working with the class teacher to support the learning of an individual, group or wider class

• Excellent organisational skills

• Creativity, flexibility and be a problem solver, willing to adapt

• A positive ‘can do’ attitude, self-motivation and a nurturing nature

• Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding

• Willingness to undertake training relevant to their role

• Supportive of the ethos of our church school

Previous experience of working with children in KS2 would be advantageous.
