We are seeking to appoint a number of creative, dynamic practitioners who are committed to inclusion and to supporting young people with special educational needs (SEND) to thrive and reach their potential.

This is a crucial role in both the department and wider school and is a fantastic opportunity for a talented, student-centred, ambitious professional to play a key role in a progressive educational setting. 

We are looking for SEND Education Leads (Teaching Assistants with SEND experience) who are a special kind of person who can enable our students to be empowered in having the complete school experience regardless of needs and so they are able to achieve their personal academic success.

This is a permanent role, with a starting salary of £22,183 FTE. Other benefits include Local Government Pension and term time only working. We have excellent transport links and are easily commutable from South Wales, Gloucester and Stroud.

About The Role

The ideal person will reinforce the excellent work of the teaching staff by supporting the individual both within and outside of the classroom environment. You will be a professional role model to the pupils, with the confidence to challenge and the creativity to motivate. Your key role will be planning and delivering targeted interventions to identified students who need additional support with maintaining high expectations and identifying personal aspirations. Under the direction of the Special Education Needs & Disability Coordinator, work as part of a team to promote the emotional, physical and educational development of pupils, including those with special needs.


About You

Experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs is essential. GCSEs in Maths and English is essential. You will be joining a passionate group of colleagues who strive to achieve the best outcomes for pupils in all aspects of their lives. You will understand what constitutes an effective intervention and will understand how to use data to inform the intent, implementation and impact of any intervention work

you will be:

  • keen to learn with a positive outlook
  • able to work on your own initiative
  • experienced in working with children
  • able to work as part of a team
  • willing to undertake training
  • enthusiastic and have the skills to challenge and motivate all our pupils.
