We are a Federation of two Outstanding schools for pupils with severe, profound and multiple learning difficulties, some with associated autistic spectrum disorder. Manor Mead is our Primary School in Shepperton for 4-11 year olds with a high COIN satellite provision at our Virginia Water site; our Secondary School, Walton Leigh, for 11-19 year olds is in Walton-on-Thames. Successful candidates will enjoy the benefits of The Federation of Manor Mead and Walton Leigh Schools, which provides valuable opportunities for sharing of best practice, excellent professional development support and career progression.

We would love to hear from applicants who would like to lead a Primary age class full time at our Shepperton site.  We welcome applications from ECTs. Successful candidates will be supported within the class by a senior teaching assistant and a team of teaching assistants and more widely by a senior management team with many years’ experience and an excellent understanding of the rewards and challenges of teaching in a special school. You will also be collaborating with parents, therapists, specialist teachers and other professionals to support our pupils’ diverse needs and enable them to learn and make progress. You will have responsibility for a curriculum area (unless you are an ECT) which will be agreed on appointment.

Manor Mead School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Following the procedures recommended to safeguard children, we will be taking up references if you are shortlisted for an interview.  The successful applicant will be required to undertake a DBS check.

Manor Mead School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Manor Mead School believes that it is always unacceptable for a child to experience abuse of any kind. We recognise our responsibility to safeguard the welfare of all children. We will provide staff and volunteers with guidance to follow when they suspect a child may be experiencing abuse or may be at risk of harm. We will work co-operatively with other agencies to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare. The Deputy DSLs are Becki Wright (Deputy Head of School Shepperton), Alice Chandler (Assistant Head of School) and Livvy Hepburn (Assistant Head of School).
