Marlwood School is looking for an innovative leader to join us as Head of Science from September 2024.


About us

Marlwood School is situated in the leafy South Gloucestershire village of Alveston, less than 20 minutes away from the heart of the cosmopolitan vibrancy of Bristol City Centre. It is situated on the B3561 on the outskirts of the south-west of the village, near to the Severn Estuary and with excellent transport links to the M5 and M4.

About the role

You will lead the development of all aspects of the Science Department, primarily the quality of curriculum, teaching and learning and assessment. You will line manage members of the faculty and build a real team identity, ensuring that the whole team is empowered to improve and develop their classroom practice. You will have an up-to-date knowledge of the best practice in Science and share this with others in an effort to achieve consistency of approach and equity of opportunity for all learners. You will be responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of student progress and raising attainment in this subject.

As a key middle leader you will contribute to the embedding of our wider school values and school improvement priorities, implementing devolved management responsibilities as required.
