Medeshamstede Academy is an all through Academy for 117 pupils, aged 4 to 16. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) for communication and interaction with a diagnosis of Autism as their main presenting need. Pupils may have associated difficulties, within the areas of:
Cognition and learning
Sensory and physical needs
Most of our pupils live within the City of Peterborough and some are from Cambridgeshire and other neighbouring counties.
Our academy provides a calm, safe and supportive environment in which differences are understood, allowing pupils to thrive and succeed.
We have high aspirations for our pupils. We prioritise working in partnership with parents, carers, therapists and other professionals. This ensures that the needs of the individual and their families are effectively met, so that pupils achieve the best possible outcomes. Our dedicated and experienced staff skilfully plan learning provision which is personalised, engaging, and motivating; often using pupils' interests.

Teaching children core values is central to our curriculum and provision. Our core values drive our shared purpose within a culture of autism and excellence so that all staff, children and our academy community live these daily, as real values to achieve
Our Mission:
Above are the founding principles that inform our values-based curriculum and culture of excellence.
We strive to treat each other with respect, communicating with openness and kindness to our friends, family and community. We trust others to do the same.
At Medeshamstede Academy, we demonstrate our understanding of autism as a difference rather than a deficit. We develop resilience in our pupils to overcome barriers, participate in and contribute to their community and the world we live in.
Through our Universal Skills Builder Partnership, our focus this term is to build upon the essential skills of positivity and communication, enabling our pupils to have a voice and share their views.
We provide our children with opportunities to develop the skills of leadership and teamwork through their work and play, in demonstrating empathy and understanding for healthy relationships with others. We understand that one of the greatest gifts we can share is friendship.
Together we thrive, demonstrating resilience in the face of adversity and challenge. Within our firm value of inclusivity, we believe our children can achieve anything they set their hearts on. We can build a community where every moment is an opportunity to do our best and achieve our goals and outcomes.
At Medeshamstede Academy, each one of us, every day, in every way, seek to live by these values, and to help others to do so too.
