The School

Newfield School is a successful 11-16 comprehensive school that sits at the heart of the locality we serve. We have a diverse community and have an excellent reputation across the city. Ofsted have rated us a good school and we continue to work hard to be truly exceptional. We work hard on behalf of our students and families and often go ‘above and beyond’ through our dedication and commitment to providing a safe and happy learning environment.

We believe that Achievement Leads to Opportunity and Choice and this is underpinned by our values:

• We are high performing because we are curious and have a thirst for knowledge.

• We are considerate and value our community.

• We succeed through commitment and relentless ambition.

In the classroom we use the latest research as well as Rosenshine’s Principles and Teach Like A Champion to guide our pedagogy. We explicitly teach knowledge, interleaving retrieval through our curriculum schema. We therefore look for teachers who are skilled in engaging students though their passion for their subject.

The Role

Newfield School is seeking to appoint a highly skilled and talented Teacher of Technology to start as soon as possible.

We are a team of passionate teaching staff and technicians delivering a broad curriculum including Resistant Materials, CAD/CAM, Food, Textiles and Electronics in Key Stage 3. At Key Stage 4 we offer GCSE DT (OCR), Construction (WJEC) and Hospitality and Catering (WJEC). Our enrichment includes STEM, Robotics and Food clubs.

Technology is well resourced at our school. The school is equipped with outstanding facilities in the form of specialist classrooms and a large materials preparation area. We have fully equipped workshops with a range of materials and processing equipment as well as a CAD/CAM room with a suite of 30 PCs with 2D Design and 3D Autodesk software. We also have two 3D printers, two large bed laser cutters and a wide range of machines for engineering processes including heat treatment and lathes.

You will have the ability to inspire and engage students using your knowledge and enthusiasm of the subjects. Imaginative and committed, you will have a proven track record of success and high expectations of our students. As part of the department, you will need to keep up to date with educational research that will improve practice, collaborate with the Head of Department and technicians to contribute to the department's excellent schemes of learning and resources.

The Candidate

• You will be an excellent teacher of Technology with an outstanding track record.

• You will be committed to developing the life chances of young people and inspire the love of Technology. Innovative and resilient, you will have an unwavering commitment to student progress.

• You will be someone with a clear vision in how to develop students with an impact on achievement.
