Hours: 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time, plus 5 inset days
Salary: Grade 1 and scale point 3 - 4, (£24,796 - £25,185 full time equivalent), actual annual salary £11,515 - £11,696

We are seeking a General Catering Assistant to join our Catering Team on a permanent basis, providing kitchen cover across schools within the Midsomer Norton Schools' Partnership.
This is a mobile role supporting our school kitchens when additional cover is required due to staff absence, vacancies or increased demand. Although you'll work across a number of schools in the Midsomer Norton area, there will also be opportunities to undertake long-term cover placements at individual schools when needed.

About the role
Working alongside our experienced catering teams, you'll help deliver nutritious, high-quality meals in a safe and welcoming environment for pupils and staff.
Your duties will include:
- Assisting with the preparation of meals, sandwiches, salads and other food items.
- Supporting the cooking of simple food items including vegetables and basic meal preparation.
- Serving food and providing excellent customer service to pupils and staff.
- Setting up and clearing dining areas.
- Operating kitchen equipment, dishwashers and cashless catering tills (training provided where required).
- Washing crockery, utensils and kitchen equipment.
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene.
- Recording food and appliance temperatures and supporting food safety procedures.
- Loading and, where required, delivering prepared meals to local schools using a school catering vehicle.
- Supporting catering for school events, meetings and functions.
- Working flexibly across different school kitchens to provide essential catering cover.
