Salary: £28,142- £31,022 per annum, pro rata (Grade 5 SPC 11-17)
Actual salary: £21,238-£23,411 per annum
Working hours: 32.5 hours per week, term time only plus 5 INSET days

The role
Hayesfield Girls’ School is seeking a calm, confident, and professional Classroom Cover Supervisor to join our team. Your primary role will be to manage and support classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff. You will ensure that students remain on task with work set by qualified teachers, maintaining a constructive and purposeful learning environment across a wide range of subjects.
The key responsibilities are:
- Classroom Management: Supervise pupils to ensure they work effectively on set tasks, maintaining high standards of behaviour and discipline in line with school policies.
- Student Support: Offer advice and guidance to students of all ages and abilities, helping them to engage with their work and achieve high standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with senior staff and the Cover Manager to ensure school policies are followed and report back to teachers on pupil progress or any issues arising.
- Departmental Support: When cover is not required, provide valuable administrative and practical support within subject departments, including worksheet preparation and general admin tasks.
- Professional Standards: Participate in staff meetings and training, contributing to the overall positive ethos and safety of the school community.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
- Education: Evidence of a good basic education (GCSE English and Maths or equivalent).
- Communication: A friendly, calm manner with the ability to relate well to both children and adults.
- Teamwork: The ability to work constructively as part of a team while understanding specific classroom roles and responsibilities.
- IT Literacy: A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, email, and the internet to effectively support learning and maintain records.
- Decision Making: The ability to make sensible, quick decisions in a classroom environment to keep students safe and focused.
