Design and Technology Technician

Full time, 37 hours per week

Term time only plus inset days

Salary Range (full-time equivalent): £24,790 - £25584 (Pay Award Pending)

Actual Salary: £21,299 - £21,981 (Pay Award Pending)

Do you have a passion to help support the creativity of students, who would relish the opportunity to work as part of a team driving the Design and Technology department forward.

We are excited to be looking for a Design and Technology technician to support the faculty across Food Technology, Product Design and Textiles.

Design and Technology at Writhlington is a very popular subject, with the students enjoying having the opportunity to complete a wide range of different projects using a wide array of materials. Projects include learning basic skills in cookery, making soft toys and pencils cases in Textiles, working with electronics to manufacture an Animal Lamp or designing their own ‘Bus Stop for Somerset’.

The Design and Technology Faculty has excellent resources including a well equipped Food room with Induction ovens and a Blast Chiller, a Textiles room with sublimation printer and laser cutter, a well equipped workshop with a range of modern and traditional tools, including a laser cutter and 3 3D printers. Full training will be provided.

Writhlington School is part of the Midsomer Norton Schools’ Partnership and located on a large modern campus that benefits from exceptional media facilities, a 400-seat theatre and a Community Sports Centre.
