Design Technology Technician
Location: Somervale School
Start Date: As soon as possible
Hours: Term Time Only plus 5 Inset Days
37 hours per week, Monday - Thursday 8am - 4pm and Friday 8am - 3.30pm
Salary: Grade 2, Scale 4 - 5
(FTE £24,404 - £24,790 per annum) Actual Salary: £20,967 - £21,298 per annum
Following the growth within this popular curriculum area, we are looking to appoint a creative and organised technician who can offer technical and administrative support to the Design Technology teachers. The successful candidate should be confident in the use of technical and practical equipment and with an interest in supportive creativity and students to be successful. The key areas you would be supporting are the textiles and catering teachers and would work alongside a part time technician who focuses on the product design aspects of DT.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To assist in preparing classrooms for use by staff and students ensuring a safe working, tidy and healthy environment is provided at all times.
- To assist in preparing, supplying and collecting teaching materials, displays, apparatus and equipment, providing technical assistance and support to teaching staff and students on the safe and economic use of equipment and materials (including electrical equipment).
- To assist in maintaining and repairing equipment and apparatus or organising maintenance and repair, seeking specialist assistance when necessary, in order to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- To ensure that classrooms and all equipment used are kept clean, tidy and in a safe condition.
- In class support/ working with small groups of students within Design Technology
