Role: General Catering Assistant

Location: Peasedown Primary School

Start Date: ASAP

Interview Date: TBC

Hours: 23.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9:30am - 2:15pm. Term time plus 2 inset days

Salary: Grade 1, scale point 3 - 7, Actual salary £13,073 - £13,278 (FTE £24,027 - £24,404)

Are you looking for a rewarding role in a vibrant and welcoming school environment? We're seeking a dedicated Catering Assistant to join our team at Peasedown St John Primary School!

Based primarily at Peasedown St John Primary School, with potential to cover other schools within our trust in the Bath area. Peasedown St John Primary School is a thriving community school, known for its warm and supportive atmosphere, where every child is encouraged to reach their full potential.

We're looking for a reliable and enthusiastic individual to assist in the smooth running of our school kitchen and dining room. You'll play a vital role in preparing delicious and nutritious meals for our students, ensuring a clean and welcoming dining environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in food preparation, including sandwiches, salads, and simple dishes.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as mixers, slicers (with training), and dishwashers.
  • Help set up and maintain the dining room, supervising queues and ensuring cleanliness.
  • Operate tills for cashless catering, free school meals, and staff meals.
  • Wash and sanitise crockery, cutlery, and kitchen equipment.
  • Assist in monitoring food temperatures and maintaining hygiene records.
  • Perform routine and deep cleaning of the kitchen and dining area.
  • Assist with risk assessments and report any hazards.
  • Potentially load and deliver pre-prepared meals to other schools within the trust using the school catering vehicle.
  • Assist with catering for school events.
