To start from 1st September 2026, we are looking for an exceptional Head of Music and Drama to join this distinctive, high achieving, state-funded day and boarding school for boys in the lower school and large mixed Sixth Form.

We are looking for a dynamic leader with high expectations and standards who will inspire and motivate students and create a buzz and excitement both in and beyond the classroom. The successful candidate will have to demonstrate an ability to deliver outstanding academic results and exemplary classroom practice through the delivery of a high quality and well sequenced curriculum, a structured assessment system, rigorous diagnosis of individual students’ strengths and weaknesses and the implementation of targeted intervention programmes.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach music (and drama if possible), to oversee the running of the Music and Drama department and to both line manage members of the team and ensure peripatetic teachers are effectively coordinated and organised.

This is an excellent opportunity to build on a comprehensive music programme, and develop it further, whilst also building on the development of the drama curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities within the school.

The School has a vibrant extra-curricular life, which includes sport, music, debating, drama, outdoor activities and public speaking. A willingness to contribute is an expectation.

Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced Disclosure Barring Service Certificate is required for this post prior to commencement.
