Role: Parent and Family Support Advisor

Location: Park Road, Alternative Provision, Frome.

Start Date: September 2025

Closing Date: 5th May 2025

Hours: Term time only, 1 day per week, 7.5 hours per week

Salary: 6 Scale Point: 18 - 22, (FTE £30,559 - £32,654), Actual Salary £5,203 - £5,559

We're seeking a dedicated and proactive Parent and Family Support Advisor to join our dynamic Multi-Academy Trust (MNSP) SEND team. In this crucial role, you'll work collaboratively with schools, families, and students to break down barriers to learning and foster a supportive educational environment. You'll be a vital link between home and school, providing expert advice and guidance to families and students facing challenges that impact school engagement and attendance. Your focus will be on proactive intervention, early identification of potential issues, and empowering families to access the support they need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish strong relationships with students, parents/carers, school staff, and external agencies.
  • Identify and investigate the root causes of absence and disengagement, developing tailored solutions.
  • Proactively identify potential issues and implement preventative strategies.
  • Conduct Early Help Assessments (EHAs), provide practical advice, and empower families to overcome challenges.
  • Support students with attendance issues, particularly during transition periods.
  • Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings, providing written and verbal reports.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor action plans, ensuring effective outcomes.
  • Act as a lead professional, advocate for students and families, and provide clear and accessible information.
  • Design and deliver parenting classes and workshops.
  • Maintain accurate records and utilize data to inform practice and reporting.
  • Gather information on local support services and provide signposting to families.

What We're Looking For:

  • A strong understanding of the challenges faced by students and families in education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with multiple agencies.
  • Experience in conducting assessments and developing action plans.
  • Knowledge of SEND and attendance procedures.
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • The ability to explain complex information in a clear and understandable way.
