Are you an exceptional and inspirational teacher who believes in the potential of every child? Then join our team as the Lead Teacher of our new SEND Resource Base, ‘The Star’.

We wish to appoint an outstanding Resource Base Lead. This is an excellent opportunity for a committed and enthusiastic Resource Base Lead Teacher to be responsible for the quality of teaching, learning and progress for students with a diagnosis of ASC, based in the ASC Resource Base (The Star at PSJ School), analysing outcomes and looking for improvements. You will be passionate about teaching and committed to making a difference for all pupils.

The Star is due to open in September 2024 and will be a bespoke Resource Base on site for children and young people with ASC who have an EHCP but who are unable to fully access mainstream education. The resource base will allow pupils to be able to access a blended personalised and mainstream education. A significant aspect of the Lead Teacher role will be to establish the Base with the support of the school’s leadership team and the MNSP Special School & Alternative Provision Hub Strategic Lead. This post is full time and permanent.

We are looking for a Base Lead Teacher who:

  • Is able to effectively work with pupils with SEND. These pupils may have difficulties engaging in activities, may present more frequent behavioural challenges and may require greater levels of support to attain individual targets.
  • Has the ability to deliver and achieve the highest standard of teaching and learning for those students with autism and communication needs.
  • Will work closely with the leadership team to ensure inclusive and personalised education for pupils in the Base and develop the Base as an inclusive and beneficial asset to the school community.
  • A teacher who will maintain an inspiring learning environment suited to the needs of individual pupils.
  • Has a proven ability to effectively performance manage staff within a school setting.
  • Is innovative and able to demonstrate high levels of motivation.
  • Has a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Is willing to contribute to the wider life at the school.
  • Has good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of our team.
  • Is committed to our vision and values.

Peasedown St John Primary School is a large 2-form entry primary school set in the heart of Peasedown St John village near the City of Bath. The Star will be a new development for the school and is set to open to pupils in September 2024.

At PSJ we CARE. Our values of Curiosity, Aspiration, Resilience and Empathy help children to thrive in their learning and as they develop as young people. Our vision to ‘Achieve Excellence for Ourselves and Others’ drives all that we do. We have a strong ethos of nurture, high expectations for all children and strong relationships. Our children are polite, keen to learn and love to be challenged! The school has seen rapid improvement since joining the MNSP Trust in 2019 and was recently inspected as a new school in September 2023 achieving Good in all areas.

Questions about the school or the vacancy can be directed to our headteacher, Ruth Noall using the contact details on our school website.
