St Mark’s School is a distinctive and inclusive, co-educational school, situated in the northeast of Bath. The school has made recent, rapid improvements, since joining the MNSP Trust and working as part of the Bath Hub. The school was inspected twice in the 2021/22 academic year, firstly by SIAMS in November 2021 and then OFSTED in February 2022. The school was categorised as a ‘Good’ school’ in both inspections, validating the wonderful work of the staff team. The school’s examination results in 2023 were very strong at GCSE, evidenced by a Progress 8 score of +0.45.

St Mark’s School is seeking to appoint a Teacher of Design Technology to join our committed and hard-working staff team, with effect from 1st September 2024. We are in a position to be able to offer this post to both experienced teachers of design and Technology or teachers with another specialism who might want to retrain to be a D&T teacher.

The postholder will teach Design Technology across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, including the WJEC course in Hospitality and Catering. In future years, we may consider re-running Design & Technology Product Design as we have had highly successful cohorts in previous academic years.

The successful candidate will be an outstanding teacher. They will have experience of teaching Design Technology courses to GCSE level. They will be highly motivated and organised with the ability to effectively inspire and motivate young people through the medium of design and technology.

We offer fully funded training, from approved D&T association specialists, run several times throughout the year. For an exceptional candidate we would be able to support re-training a non-specialist into Design and Technology.

The Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. An enhanced Disclosure Barring Service Certificate is required for this post prior to commencement.

The job details are enclosed with this advert. Applications should be made via e-Teach. Apply by noon on Tuesday 7th May 2024. Candidates are requested to complete the attached application form, including a supporting statement, detailing your reasons for applying for the job, what makes you suitable, and any key experience you have that fits the specifications.

Interviews are expected to take place during the week commencing 13th May 2024. If you would like to visit the school, please contact Mr Barnaby Ash. Further details on the school can be found via e Teach.

Unfortunately it is not always possible to acknowledge all applications individually. Please note that the local governing board reserves the right to appoint before the advert closes. Thanks for your interest in this post.
