The Role

Hayesfield Girls’ School is seeking an enthusiastic, skilled, and dedicated Teacher of Science with Maths to join our thriving STEM team. We welcome applications from specialists across all Science disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics), with the opportunity to deliver A-Level in your specialist subject alongside foundational Mathematics at Key Stage 3.

At Hayesfield, Science and STEM education are fundamental to how we empower young women—dismantling glass ceilings, sparking scientific curiosity, and equipping students with the analytical tools needed for an increasingly technological world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • High-Quality Teaching: Teach an engaging, rigorous Science curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and A-Level in your specialist area, alongside foundational Mathematics at KS3.
  • Fostering STEM Aspirations: Inspire young women to pursue STEM pathways, developing their scientific enquiry, quantitative reasoning, and practical investigation skills.
  • Cross-Curricular Fluency: Help students see the natural connections between mathematical reasoning and scientific analysis to build confidence across both disciplines.
  • Faculty Collaboration: Work alongside our vibrant Science and Mathematics faculties to uphold high expectations, excellent pedagogy, and outstanding student outcomes.

Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Teaching Qualification: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism in a Science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
  • Subject Versatility: Ability to teach your Science specialism up to A-Level and a willingness/capability to deliver KS3 Mathematics.
  • STEM Empowerment: Passion for dismantling barriers and inspiring girls to excel in scientific and quantitative fields.
  • Pedagogical Standards: A commitment to high expectations, engaging practical work, and cross-curricular learning.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate across two strong, high-performing departments.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience delivering A-Level Science (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) with a track record of strong student progress.
  • Experience delivering Key Stage 3 or 4 Mathematics.

We offer:

  • A thriving STEM culture with exceptional post-16 uptake and students regularly progressing to Russell Group universities and Oxbridge for STEM courses.
  • Outstanding professional development and cross-trust collaboration through the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership and The Bath Hub.
  • A supportive, ambitious working environment split across two beautiful sites in the heart of Bath.
