The Role: Thrive Practitioner

We are seeking a dedicated Thrive Practitioner to join our team. Your primary purpose will be to remove barriers to learning and support the social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) progress of our pupils. You will be responsible for the progress of individuals against the Thrive programme attainment standards.

This is a fixed-term position contracted until the end of the current academic year, there maybe the potential to extend. The role requires 13 working hours per week, structured across two days from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm (including a daily 30-minute unpaid lunch break).

Your role will include:

  • Planning and delivering personalised THRIVE 1-2-1 and small group intervention sessions.
  • Working alongside an experienced, 3 day per week Thrive Practitioner.
  • Assessing the needs of pupils and using specialist skills to support their learning, promoting self-esteem and independence.
  • Establishing relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and promoting the inclusion of all.
  • Contributing to/leading meetings with parents and providing pastoral support for pupils.
  • Liaising with outside agencies and professionals to support the achievement and progress of pupils.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with children of relevant age in a learning environment.
  • Excellent numeracy and literacy skills, equivalent to NVQ Level 2 in English and Maths.
  • A strong understanding of the principles of child development, learning processes, and statutory frameworks relating to special educational needs.
  • The ability to relate well to both children and adults and work constructively as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using ICT to support learning and maintain records.

Desirable Skills:

  • A current THRIVE Practitioner Licence for Primary, with a commitment to maintaining necessary professional development.
  • An NVQ Level 3/4 qualification.
  • Appropriate knowledge of general first aid (e.g., a Paediatric First Aid Certificate).
